The conference proved to be a successful  educational  tool. It was thoroughly thought-out. The speakers at the conference  were SpbS trainers: Alexei Pago (English contribution), Mikhail  Shcherbina  and Tatiana Marushchenko (French contributions), Ekaterina Trefilova  (German contribution).   The contributions were supported by video  presentations.  Oksana Yakimenko was brilliant as a conference mediator. It was a hard  job: \u201cagitated\u201d speakers went out of their way to let the audience  experience real difficulties of a conference interpreter work. They  didn\u2019t observe the time limit, spoke at a galloping speed, imitated  slips of language, mixed up slides, dropped pointers and turned away  from the microphone.  Interpreters, taking turns in the booths, had  a really tough time. They had to watch their delivery: one of the booths   was a pivot, Russian interpretation was a relay for further interpreted  into English in the next booth.   The thematic discussion on the issues  was well-handled. In the course of the discussion it turned out that  interpreting spontaneous questions was sometimes more complicated than  interpreting speeches, and misunderstanding can easily crop up! The  conference finished off with a follow-up analysis by Irina Alexeeva.  Irina Martyanova spoke as an expert on the Russian language; the  performance  of trainees was also assessed by the UN representative Mikhail Kuzmenko,   an interpreter from New York and a guest of the School.  \u201cBooth experts\u201d   Angelique Antonova, Evgeny Shelud\u2019ko, Tatiana Marushchenko and other  trainers of the School made comments on the  general context, leaving  details of individual performance for private talks. After the  conference  the trainees didn\u2019t rush to leave the room. They seemed to have been  satisfied with this class\u2026<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Times New Roman\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">The next multilingual  conference  is scheduled to take place at the end of March. It\u2019s tentative theme  is \u201cHumanitarian initiatives and actions to reduce poverty\u201d.  Participants  are well advised to start preparations already now.<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"en-gb\"><\/span><span lang=\"ru-ru\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"ru-ru\">6
