I.A. Martianova A Practical  Course in Russian for Conference Interpreters and Translators will  take place as a part of the Russian Language Day event at the Herzen  University on July 8. The book was written as a practical guide for  interpreters and translators of international organizations to master  the Russian language. The guide was approved during the training process   at St Petersburg School of Interpretation and Translation, the Herzen  University.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The  book by I.A. Martianova is a publication by the Herzen University with  the support of the UN Information Center in Moscow. We appreciate the  encouragement provided by Mr Vitaly I. Churkin, Permanent Representative   of the Russian Federation to the UN, Mr Alexander S. Gorelik, Director  of the UN Information Center in Moscow, Mr Igor S. Shpiniov, Coordinator   of the UN University Cooperation programmes and coordinatior of the  UN Memorandum, signed with the Herzen University.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In  2010 the United Nations assigned commemorative Days of the six official  UN languages. The Russian Language Day was assigned to June 6 &#8211;  anniversary  of a celebrated Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, a date which is  culturally  significant in Russia. <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The  Day is an important opportunity for international organizations,  universities,  all educational establishments to join efforts to improve the profile  of the Russian language in international communication. It offers  opportunities  to launch various public events and outreach initiatives, to raise  awareness  of professionals from different spheres to the cause of maintaining  the global role of the Russian language.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-gb\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The  presentation of the book by prof. I.A. Martianova will take place in  the Library of the Herzen University (bldg. 5, floor 1) at 15.00. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-gb\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0A similar  presentation of the book is planned to be held at the UN Secretariat  in New York. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-gb\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Russian  language professionals and all who may be interested are welcome to
