Angelique Antonova participated in the DG SCIC seminar in interpretation training methodology, held on 15-19 September. The programme of the seminar covered the following issues:<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">Conference Interpreting Training Programmes. General principles of training.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">The ideal profile of a candidate for selection. Knowledge, skills and professional aptitude a candidate should possess.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">The ideal profile of a graduate of the course. Knowledge, professional qaulifications and skills a graduate should possess.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">Assessment of candidates\/ graduates of such a course. Selection criteria, interpretation tests, how to judge a candidate\u2019s performance.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">Running an interpreter training session.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">Consecutive training techniques. Ideas for early consecutive training sessions. Teaching note-taking. Common problems encountered with note-taking.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">The importance of speechmaking in the training process. Recommendations to speakers.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">Simultaneous training techniques (note on introduction to simultaneous, advanced simultaneous, simultaneous with text).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">Relay and retour.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">Voice-coaching in training interpreting.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">Professional ethics for interpreters.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">Self-training.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">Presentation of on-line speech repository.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"justify\"> <span lang=\"en-gb\"> Almost all issues discussed during the seminar were illustrated by role plays, played by the trainers-participants of the seminar. Each role play was thoroughly discussed on its completion. Such approach helped visualize different aspects of the training process and gave comprehensive overview of a Conference Interpreting Training Programme.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">The seminar gave a clearer idea of interpretation training methods in DG SCIC, as well as in European Union institutes training interpreters. It gave a possibility to share different methods of training consecutive and simultaneous interpretation, practiced in different schools, and promptly implement positive, innovative ideas of the colleagues into the training process of the School, such as organization of students\u2019 self-training, further development of admission criteria for students and competencies for graduates.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\"> II. Angelique Antonova and Sergey Yakovlev participated in the DGT \u201cTraining for trainers\u201d seminar, held on 22-24 September. The programme of the seminar covered the following issues:<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"en-gb\">Translation as a strategy for multilingualism and general presentation of DGT.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-gb\">Cooperation with universities, European Master\u2019s in Translation, and competencies for EMT graduates.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-gb\">Terminology work in DGT.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-gb\">Documentary and terminology sources for translation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-gb\">Terminology and Web translation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-gb\">Technological support and translation technologies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-gb\">Translation tools.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-gb\">Documentary and terminology sources of DGT and DG SCIC, which are open to public, and which they explained how to use, gave a lot of useful material and helped
