Санкт-Петербургская высшая школа перевода объявляет набор на семинар-тренинг

«Практикум двустороннего синхронного перевода

в международных организациях»

Данный семинар-тренинг направлен на формирование и развитие техники и практических навыков синхронного перевода в деловой и дипломатической коммуникации.

Тренинг проводит переводчик-синхронист с большим опытом работы в международных организациях, в прошлом штатный переводчик ООН, преподаватель высшей школы перевода Б.П. Погодин.

Начало обучения – 1 октября 2012 г.

Срок обучения – 6 недель (2 раза в неделю по 4 часа)

Стоимость обучения – 30 000 рублей.

Для зачисления на данную программу необходимо отправить заявку установленной формы в адрес высшей школы перевода. Соискатели зачисляются на обучение по результатам тестирования, которое будет проводиться предварительно.

Количество мест ограничено (6-8 человек).

4 июля 2012 г. состоялась торжественная церемония вручения дипломов выпускникам Санкт-Петербургской высшей школы перевода Герценовского университета

On July 4, 2012 the diploma awarding ceremony took place at the St Petersburg School of Conference Interpreting and Translation, Herzen University. The ceremony was attended by the University leaders, including Rector Valery Solomin, University President Gennady Bordovsky and Vice Rector Sergey Goncharov. Among honorary guests were high-ranked officials and international dignitaries: the representatives of the city government (Chief Federal Inspector in St Petersburg Viktor Minenko, Chair of the Committee for External Affairs Alexander Prokhorenko, Acting Chair of the Committee for Science and Higher Education Irina Ganus), the representatives of linguistic services of the MFA of Russia, the European Commission and the UN (Director General of Directorate General of SCIC Marco Benedetti, Director General of the Directorate General of the DGT Jean-Pier Verleysen, Director of the Department of Linguistic Support of the Russian MFA Teimuraz Ramishvili, Head of the Russian Interpretation Section in the UN Headquarters in New York Nikolay Alankin, Deputy Director of the UN Information center in Moscow Yury Shishaev). The ceremony was attended by the media, families and friends of the graduates.

Soon after the ceremony the graduates set off to their internship programs in the linguistic services in the UN Headquarters in New-York and the UN Office in Geneva. One graduate has received an appointment at the Linguistic Support Department of the MFA of Russia.

Видеоконференция с лингвистическими службами Европейского Парламента

Videoconference with the DG-INTE, the European Parliament

On June 8 a long-awaited videoconference with the DG-INTE, the European Parliament, took place at the School. The DG-INTE was represented by interpreters and the School’s friends Natalja Malychina and Ilga Berzina, with Ekaterina Dara-Leopura acting as an expert and assessor. On the School’s part, Deputy Director Angelique Antonova, trainer Alexey Pago and all the trainees attended the event. Four students took turns to interpret consecutively their virtual partners’ speeches, each interpretation being followed by a brief assessment session. The benevolent atmosphere of the discussions encouraged the students, and the international audience, albeit virtual, was instrumental in overcoming the stress of public speaking. Videoconferences are a unique tool to create a real-life working environment for an interpreter-in-training, and the students appreciate this format which has become a part and parcel of the training process at the School.

SpbS Graduates in demand on the job market!

SpbS graduates are claiming their rightful space on the language mediation market in Russia and in the world.

In 2009-2011 40 graduates of the School have been awarded diplomas in conference interpreting and conference translation. This is where they find employment:

The MFA of Russia – 7 people (5 are on staff in the Department of Linguistic Support (Moscow) and one person holds a position at the Russian Mission to the EC, one person is employed at the MFA Office in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky), staff interpreters.

The UN Headquarters (New York) – 4 are staff translators in the Russian Translation Service, and another 2 are currently going through the staffing procedure to enter the Service later in the year.

The UN Information Centre (Moscow) – one person as a staff interpreter.

10 graduates are on the UN freelance interpreters list

2 graduates were on short-term assignments with the Russian Translation Service in the UN Offices in Geneva and Vienna

One person is on the EU freelance interpreters list

В.А.Чижов: «Потребность в Русском Языке В ЕС Растет!»

On May, 18 Vladimir Chizhov, Permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the EU, visited Herzen University. Vladimir Chizhov had a meeting with the School trainees. He appreciated the work of the School and reaffirmed the long-term commitment of the Russian MFA to its graduates. The honorable guest explained Russia’s foreign policy towards the European Union and stressed the importance of European values for Russia as well as the growing demand for Russian language specialists in the EU. Vladimir Chizhov answered questions from the audience and described the challenges facing interpreters working in IOs – the constant need to upgrade the command of one’s foreign language and broaden the scope of general knowledge. Vladimir Chizhov also had a meeting with First Vice-Rector Sergei Goncharov.
