The visit of the Herzen University delegation to Xi’an (China), to the Shaanxi Pedagogical University, is a great success. The delegation includes Professor Yulia Komarova, Head of the Department of Intensive Foreign Language Teaching, and Irina Alekseeva, Professor of the Department of Translation. For several days they have been giving lectures to the university students of Russian – future teachers and translators. Great interest was aroused by I. Alekseeva’s story about the St. Petersburg  School of Conference Interpreting and Translation, of which she is the honorary president.

In addition to the lectures, the guests from Herzen University held a number of consultations on practical issues of translation studies and intensive methods of teaching a foreign language. The meeting of the delegation with the director of the Institute, Liu Cheng-Guo, was productive. The parties outlined several aspects of cooperation in the scientific and educational fields: joint collections of scientific articles, scientific consultations, workshops and round tables on didactic practice and literary translation. The main focus was on strengthening the position of the Russian language in China and promoting effective Russian educational practices.
